Endometrial Ablation

A long-term solution for heavy periods, performed in-office as an alternative to hormones or hysterectomy.

  • Uses the NovaSure device, along with hysteroscopy for optimal results.

  • Local anesthesia and oral sedation keep the procedure comfortable.

  • Minimal downtime—most patients resume normal activities the next day.

  • Light to moderate bleeding may last anywhere from a few days to six weeks.

  • High patient satisfaction in reducing or stopping periods.

Vaginal Trigger Point Injections

For women experiencing pelvic pain or pain during intercourse (dyspareunia), Botox or anesthetic injections can help relax muscles and relieve discomfort.

Labiaplasty

A surgical procedure to reshape or reduce the size of the labia minora, addressing concerns such as:

  • Irritation or discomfort from clothing or exercise.

  • Pinching or pain during intercourse.

  • Aesthetic concerns, though labia naturally vary in shape and size.

The procedure is:

  • Performed in-office under local anesthesia for comfort.

  • Sutures remain for 7–10 days, with normal activities resuming after 2 weeks.

  • Final results take a few months as healing progresses.

Surgical Procedures

Treatment Procedures

We offer a range of in-office treatments to address gynecologic concerns and enhance quality of life.

Hysterectomy

A hysterectomy is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of the uterus, and sometimes other reproductive organs, such as the cervix, ovaries, and fallopian tubes. This procedure may be recommended for various medical reasons, including:
Uterine fibroids, endometriosis, adenomyosis, abnormal uterine bleeding, cancer, or some cases of chronic pelvic pain.

Types of Hysterectomy:

  1. Total Hysterectomy: Removal of the uterus and cervix.

  2. Supracervical Hysterectomy: Removal of the uterus while leaving the cervix intact.
Both types of hysterectomy may include the removal of the fallopian tubes, with or without removal of the ovaries.

The Procedure:
A hysterectomy can be performed through various surgical approaches:

  • Abdominal Hysterectomy: The uterus is removed through an incision in the abdomen. This is typically horizontal and low in the abdomen, but less commonly may be performed through a vertical midline incision.

  • Vaginal Hysterectomy: The uterus is removed through the vagina.

  • Laparoscopic Hysterectomy: A minimally invasive procedure using small incisions and a camera to guide the surgery.

Recovery:

  • The recovery time varies depending on the type of hysterectomy. Generally, abdominal hysterectomies involve a longer recovery period compared to vaginal or laparoscopic procedures. Usually, recovery is about 4–6 weeks.

  • Post-surgery, patients may experience pain, swelling, and other symptoms as they heal. When the pain has resolved, fatigue is common for a few weeks.

Considerations:

  • Hysterectomy results in the inability to become pregnant.

  • Hormonal changes will occur if the ovaries are removed.

  • Discuss with your doctor any concerns about the potential effects on sexual function, hormone replacement therapy, and overall health.

Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy is a valuable tool in gynecology that enables effective diagnosis and treatment of several reproductive health issues with fewer complications and a quicker recovery time compared to traditional surgical methods.

Laparoscopy is performed through 2-4 small abdominal incisions using a camera to visualize the pelvic organs.  It is performed under general anesthesia as a same day procedure. Recovery time is usually about 1 week of no vigorous activity.  Laparoscopy is commonly used to diagnose and treat endometriosis, pelvic pain, remove ovarian cysts and tubal sterilization.

LEEP (Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure)

A 10-minute in-office procedure used to remove precancerous cervical tissue, often following a colposcopy.

  • A thin wire loop excises abnormal tissue, and the area is cauterized to stop bleeding.

  • Healing typically takes 2–4 weeks.

  • Oral sedation and pain management are provided for comfort.

  • A driver is required, and no strenuous activity should be scheduled that day.

  • No sex or exercise until your post-op exam (3–4 weeks later).

Specialized Diagnostics Services

Diagnostic Procedures

We use advanced techniques to evaluate gynecologic health and identify conditions requiring further treatment.

Colposcopy

A colposcopy is performed after an abnormal Pap smear to closely examine the cervix, vagina, and vulva using a magnifying instrument.

Feels similar to a Pap smear, though a biopsy may be taken, which can cause brief cramping.
Normal activities resume the same day, but we recommend 24 hours of pelvic rest (no sex, tampons, or internal objects).

Hysteroscopy

A minimally invasive procedure used to evaluate and treat abnormal uterine bleeding by inserting a small scope into the uterus.

The uterus is inflated with sterile fluid for a clear view.

Pre-procedure medication is provided to improve comfort. A driver is required, but most patients can return to normal activities the next day.
